National Vascular RegistryAbout
The National Vascular Registry (NVR) was established in 2013 to measure the quality and outcomes of care for patients who undergo major vascular surgery in NHS hospitals. Its primary purpose is to provide comparative figures on the performance of vascular services in NHS hospitals and support vascular specialists with local benchmarking and quality improvement.
The NVR is commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) as part of the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP) and was created from an amalgamation of the National Vascular Database and the Carotid Interventions Audit. It is one of the initiatives undertaken by the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland (VSGBI) to improve the care provided by vascular services within the UK.
While the NCAPOP Audits primarily cover NHS hospitals in England and Wales, NHS hospitals in Scotland and Northern Ireland are encouraged to participate in the Registry.
